HPLC Columns

Hamilton manufactures both silica-based and polymeric HPLC columns, providing a wide range of column retention selectivities and performance benefits. Hamilton's polymeric HPLC columns combine the inertness and pH stability of polymeric supports with the pressure stability and durability of silica-based columns. Column packing materials are available for reversed phase, anion exchange, cation exchange, and ion exclusion separations.

Hamilton offers 19 different polymer-based HPLC columns for reversed phase, anion exchange, cation exchange and ion exclusion separations.  Two silica-based C8 and C18 column materials are available for reversed phase separations.

PRP-h1 Long life column for LC/MS applications,synthesized DNA, and small molecule

HxSil C8, C18 General purpose silica-based reversed phase

Anion Exchange
PRP-X100 Anions, inorganic and organic using conductivity or UV detection.  0 to 100% solvent compatible.
PRP-X110 Similar to PRP-X100 but for lower level anions (20 ppb to 20 ppm)
PRP-X500 Gradient separation of large proteins and labeled DNA
PRP-X600 Gradient separation of labeled and unlabeled DNA
RCX-10 Isocratic or gradient separation of carbohydrate oligomers up to DP8
RCX-30 Gradient separation of complex carbohydrates

Cation Exchange
PRP-X200 Inorganic and organic cations using conductivity or UV detection.  Separate mono or divalent cations depending on mobile phase conditions.
PRP-X400 Glyphosate and metabolite in drinking water. Also unique hydrophilic interaction separations
PRP-X800 Mono and divalent cations in the same run. Transition metals
HC-40 Sugar oligomers up to DP8. Max pressure 1,000 psi
HC-75 Ca2+ Mono and disaccharides in corn syrup. Max pressure 1,000 psi

Polymeric Column Benefits

Hamilton's polymeric HPLC columns combine the inertness and pH stability of polymeric supports with the pressure stability and durability of silica-based columns.  Column packings are available for reversed phase, anion exchange, cation exchange, and ion exclusion separations.  There are a total of 19 different packings.

pH Stability

Hamilton's polymeric supports are stable from pH 1 to 13, allowing you to separate samples when they are ionized and more easily detected by UV.  Weak acid anions are also easily separated at high pH without column degradation.

Better Sample Recovery

Polymeric supports do not have silanol groups that can cause irreversible sample retention.  You cannot afford to lose valuable sample on the column. Polymeric columns provide you with the best possible sample recovery.  One example is the purification of DNA oligomers.  Silica-based columns provide sample recoveries of 50-80%, while Hamilton polymeric columns provide recoveries of greater than 90%.

Consistent Performance

Hamilton Company manufactures its own supports.  This allows us to control every aspect of the support synthesis and column packing, ensuring reproducible performance, batch after batch.

Scale-up

Columns are available in a variety of sizes and packed with a variety of particle sizes. This allows you to optimize sample scale-up from 4.1 mm to 10 mm or 50.8 mm sizes.

Excellent Durability

The polymeric columns Hamilton Company manufactures are exceptionally durable and highly cross-linked to prevent shrinkage and swelling (found in other polymeric columns).  These polymeric supports are compatible with o to 100% organic solvent and water. One customer has published a column clean-up method to remove proteins bound to the column from incomplete sample clean-up. It includes flushing with 0.1 N sodium hydroxide and heating the column to 100° C in an oven for three hours. Column resolution was the same as before fouling.
